A few days before the New Year three socially important projects initiated by Gulnara Karimova were summed up at once in the Fund Forums Center of National Arts. Winners award ceremony of Grants for Family Business Development and Grants for Small and Medium Entrepreneurship and Farming Development Program for business-ladies by the Mehr Nuri Public Foundation was held on December, 24. And also the Woman of the Year was announced within the Women`s Council National Public Associations project.
Annual Grants for Family Business Development Program is intended to help women wishing to develop their professional qualities for the benefit of their families and start their own business. Following the contest, each of 30 most enterprising candidates whose business plans were rated a perfect score received grants amounting to one million UZS.
Grants for Small and Medium Entrepreneurship and Farming Development are annually allocated by the Mehr Nuri Foundation to support projects in agriculture, animal husbandry, poultry farming, food production, textile manufacture. Cash compensation of 1.5 million UZS was presented to every 20 winner of the program.
Woman of the Year Contest has been held in Uzbekistan every two years to support women who devote themselves for the family, and at the same time, reach professional or other heights with their own knowledge and skill. The project immediately drew the attention of Uzbekistan residents, regardless of their age, profession and hobbies. In the two years of the project over 33 thousand applications for participation were collected throughout the country.
The regional rounds of the contest in 2009 were held from November 30 to December 15 in all regions of Uzbekistan. All semi-finalists, that means from 9 to 17 participants from each region (total 170 contestants), received household appliances and other memorable prizes. 14 participants: one from each region of Uzbekistan, including from the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Tashkent city became finalists (National round of the competition).
The Project finalist and the owner of the prestigious "Woman of the Year-2009" and the main prize - trip to Malaysia became Mamlakat Ermatova from Jizzakh city, tutor and speech therapist of Shirin Rehabilitation Center number 6 for children with mental and language deflection.
The concert program contained performances by well-known domestic singers, as well as winners of the Yangi Avlod Children`s Creativity Festival and Kelajak Ovozi Gifted Youth Contest.
